The Reapers Are the Angels is a well-crafted and unique first novel, detailing the life of Temple, a girl who finds herself alone in a world plagued by zombies. Schephs: *****—– 5 out of 10. Like Carrie Ryan's series, it's based some years after the undead have eaten most of the rest of humanity. I ended up reading the entire series (but one, Confessor, which was released earlier this year) that's 12 books! If you like the Land of the Dead movie and/or the original Dawn of the Dead movie you may like this book. Zombies have infested a fallen America. Whenever anyone tells me that Zombie novels cannot be literature, that they will never be as devastatingly brilliant, emotional and tragic as a novel like The Road, I point them in the direction of The Reapers Are the Angels. However, overall the book packs its equal share of surprises in plot which more than compensate for the failures. Emily's Review: I will say off the bat that I have mixed emotions about this novel.
